Khara bath | Masala rava bath

Khara tub or rava bath is a breakfast from Mysore made with semolina, intermixture veggies and spices. It is a variation of the most popular Rava upma. Khara bath is commonly seen on the menus of Karnataka Tiffin Centers & Restaurants. Most people love this for the subtle flavor that comes from the spice pulverisation used.

Khara bathing tub tastes good on its own. But it is commonly served with coriander Coconut chutney.

The cay to devising a goody-goody khara bath lies in the spiciness powder old. Rava bath served in each tiffin center has a distinct flavour & taste as each united uses their own unique masala pulverization.

To relieve oneself khara Bath I have used homemade vangi bath powder that I shared on my Vangi bath post. However you can use some other spice pulverise like bisi bele bath powder operating theater sambar powder.

I take in this sometimes for dinner party as it doesn't take much clock time to prepare. It is filling as a good amount of veggies are secondhand.

Preparation to make khara bath

1. Skip this step if you are using double roast semolina. Add rava to a tear apart and parched roast it on a humble to medium flame up. Keep stirring to roast evenly. Do non brown the rava as information technology changes the flavor of khara bath. Keep this aside to air-cooled.

3. Heat 1½ tbsp ghee.

4. Add u mustard to the hot ghee. When they begin to pop, add dal and cashews. I have also used chana dal.

5. Stir and fry all of them until the dekaliter turns golden. Then add in ginger and curry leaves. Fry them for a arcminute.

6. Add onions and chilies. Fry until vaporous.

7. Add in all the veggies and kid for 2 mins. Cover and cook connected a low heat until they turn tender.

8. Total salt, turmeric and vangi bath gunpowder. If you do not have it you can just use any other spice powder like Cervus unicolor powderise or pav bhaji masala.

9. Rain cats and dogs water and shuffle. Check salt and spice. If needed add much salt.

10. When the urine comes to a rapid boil, reduce the flame to medium or low. Pour the rava to the water in a slow stream with your left. Restrain stirring the water with your other hand. Quickly chequer if there are any lumps & break.

11. Lower the flame completely and hide the potentiometer.

12. Turn bump off the stove when the weewe is absorbed. Hold the khara bath covered for another 5 mins.

13. Add chopped coriander leaves and half tbsp ghee. Intermixture well.

14. Squeeze in or s lemon juice.

Serve khara bath with coconut chutney.

Tips to make khara bath

  • Roast the rava fit on a short to medium flame until it turns crunchy and light.
  • The unique aroma of the khara bath comes from the spice powder so use a good flavorful ace.
  • Do not reduce the amount of ghee than mentioned in the recipe American Samoa it helps to pay back a non sticky rava bath with a palatal melt-in-the-mouth texture.

Khara bath recipe

  • ¾ cup rava or semolina surgery bombay rava
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • ¼ tsp mustard
  • ¾ tsp urad decalitre
  • 10 to 12 cashews
  • 1 green chilli deseeded &ere; chopped
  • 1 weensy onion fine cut (3 tbsp)
  • 3 tbsp capsicum pepper plant fine shredded
  • ½ small carrot fine cut
  • 3 tbsp green peas frozen (about an handful)
  • 1 fine tomato fine cut
  • cups water
  • ¾ to 1 tsp MTR vangi bath powder or rasam powder Beaver State sambar powder
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt operating room equally requisite
  • 1 tsp gingerroot chopped fine or grated
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon yellow juice or pro re nata

Preparation to make khara bath

  • Dry roast rava on a low to medium flame stirring often until firm and clean.

  • Do not brown the rava every bit it changes the flavor of the khara bath. Keep this aside.

  • Wash and chop down all the veggies and set incline.

How to make khara bath

  • Heat 1½ tbsp ghee in a pan out.

  • When the ghee turns violent, pop the mustard seeds first and then MBD the dal and cashews.

  • Fry until the dal turns chromatic. Then bestow the curry leaves, ginger & hing.

  • Add onions and fry until lucid.

  • Next add altogether the veggies and stir kid for 2 mins. Cover and make until slightly tender.

  • Sum in the vangi Bath powder, turmeric and salt. Pour water and blend.

  • Check sharp and add more if needed.

  • When the water begins to boiling point, Mark the flame to medium or underslung.

  • Pour the rava in a pelt with your liberal hand and keep apart stirring information technology in the water with your other hand.

  • Quickly stir and break if any lumps. Cover and simmer until the water is absorbed completely.

  • Turn off and allow to rest for 5 mins. Tote up in coriander leaves & half tbsp ghee to the flaming khara bathtub.

  • If desired you keister sprinkle 2 tbsps grated coconut and lemon juice.

  • Serve khara bath hot with coconut chutney.
